Punk Against Poverty supports local communities to take DIY approaches to life’s difficulties.
We work to provide immediate help to people in our community struggling with poverty. Our positive pathways support young people out of poverty through education and employment projects, with a goal of ending poverty completely.
Our passion is being there for people facing poverty right when they need it most. We work to end the poverty of opportunities faced by many young people from deprived backgrounds.
We aim to tackle poverty and community issues through innovative grassroots schemes that involve and engage the community, and remind people of their worth in times when it can be easy to forget.
We've created and support a network of community run Punk Pantries across Devon, which provide food 24 hours a day. No stress, no fuss, no waste, just food when people need it.
Getting school uniform for growing children can be very expensive. We take donations of school uniform, distributing it to people across Torbay and Exeter who need it the most, and work to support and advise schools on their uniform policies and supporting families.
We have two shops, located in Union Street, Torquay and in Fore Street, St Marychurch. They offer a range of stylish and affordable clothing. Every penny spent helps support our work to fight poverty.
Path to Pay
We provide education and employment opportunities for young people from deprived backgrounds to engage in work based training and education to improve their chances of employment and to break the poverty cycle.
We are a Community Interest Company (CIC)
A community interest company (or CIC) is a special form of non-charitable limited company, which exists primarily to benefit a community or with a view to pursuing a social purpose, rather than to make a profit. Being a CIC ensures that all profits and assets are used for public good.
